Rainbow After quitting Deep Purple in 1975, Blackmore created Rainbow alongside former Elf vocalist Ronnie James Dio. The early years of the band are considered amongst the best with both Rainbow Rising and Long Live Rock 'n' Roll regarded as classic seventies hard rock albums. Rainbow's emphasis shifted with the introduction of vocalist Graham Bonnet and then Joe Lynn Turner, which saw the band's popularity increase both sides of the Atlantic, but particularly in Blackmore's homeland with three consecutive top ten singles. After quitting the reformed Deep Purple, Blackmore briefly put a new version of Rainbow together, producing the very underrated Stranger In Us All album in 1995.
